Citroën launches the first edition of “ C Design - Combine Connect Create”
International Design Competition open to all designers without limitations of age or nationality, taking place exclusively on-line.

Design products for everyday life using three-dimensional components of mechanics and car bodies (coming from cars and prototypes) put at the disposal of Style Center Citroën.

target

To launch an innovative project and realize an exhibition in Milan, during the Salone del Mobile 2008 week, presenting prototypes and designs of the most interesting projects. In the course of this exhibition, the prize awarding to winners will also be held.

design theme

Citroën wishes to put the car at the center of the thought and the design work. Usually, a design object springs from the industry demands and grows taking into consideration many factors, including materials, costs, production and distribution.
With this prize, the order and the rules are overturned, asking from designers to test themselves and their own fantasy to create an innovative project, aiming at the reinterpretation of the elements that compose a vehicle.
Everything is possible: the auto components could be integrated with any other object and material; one element could be used or one hundred times more the same element.

In addition, the selection of the best projects is also previewed all the way till the prototyping and the exhibition during the Salone del Mobile 2008.

C-Design Prize

The C-Design prize, open to all and without any age limits, was extremely successful. Over 1,200 applications were made on-line on the www.aedo-to.com website, with a good 300 projects delivered, sent in from all over the world: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey and Sweden were the countries most sensitive to this theme.

C Design show

The 8 ideas selected turned into prototypes, are the protagonists of a show open to the public for the entire week dedicated to the Salone del Mobile furniture show. The awards ceremony will take place on 16th April in the splendid setting of the 31st floor of the Pirelli Skyscraper where the Lombardy Region offices are located, an important Italian rationalism architectural work by Giò Ponti, which will contribute to making this international-scale event even more prestigious. The C-Design: Combine – Connect - Create prize, in its first edition, is turning out to be a time for investigation and comparison for Citroën, with new ideas aimed at redesigning small and large items designed by Citroën in line with the philosophy which has always distinguished the brand.
